WEEK UNO
Hey everybody! I'm so so sorry that I had to switch blogging websites but the other site wasn't compatible with my Ipad so it would have been super inconvenient to ask to use someone else's computer everytime I wanted to post. So we are in full swing here in Perth and I couldn't be happier about it. On Wednesday we began lectures and to be honest at first I was really skeptical thinking "Ughh no this is going to be just like school, I am so not looking forward to this" BUT it has been the complete opposite! Although the lessons are long, they are jam-packed with such powerful messages.
Our topic this week has been on Hearing God's Voice and about quiet times and our speakers name is Chris Adams...and he's even from Minnesota, what a small world! We have learned so much in the past couple days and I want to highlight the stuff that's really stuck out to me. One of the things that Chris has talked about is how personal God is. There are over 7.028 billion people on this earth and God knows everything there is to know about each and everyone of us...even the number of hairs on our head. How mind-blowing is that!?!?! So amazing. Also we have been learning about the concept of adoption. It says in the bible that we are all adopted by God. There are no accidents in adoption either. So every adoption has a purpose, which means God has chosen ALL of us as his children. Seriously, how cool is that? Out of everyone, God wants you! The last thing I'll touch on is that in hearing God's voice comes humility. We are human and are so prideful which inhibits us from hearing and really listening to it! It says in Psalm 25:9 that when we are prideful, we are unteachable...which is so true, and convicting.
Hearing God's voice is a relatively new concept to me and I know it's going to be a long journey, but totally worth it! I am already starting to feel the Holy Spirit work through me. I don't always like what it tells me, because it's super convicting, but dealing with that sin is the only way to move along in my relationship with God.
On a less serious note, I am having the TIME OF MY LIFE here. These people are seriously so amazing and I can't wait to get to know them all better. It's so cool to be surrounded by followers and pursuers of Christ 24/7! Coming into YWAM I was nervous that there would be all these weird people here and I would not connect with anyone. Boy was I wrong! I love everyone here, PRAISE THE LORD! We have been doing awesome things here in Perth during our free time. We have been in the city a couple times and it is such a sweet city! We are right by the river here and it is BEAUTIFUL! We had a kickin' BBQ the other day and played these super fun/strange Australian games haha. I don't know what we have planned for this weekend but I'm so stoaked!
Oh and also the accents here are HILARIOUS! love it, so much more to come, let me know what you think of my first real post. Love you all! :)
