Yikesabee, what a week! I can't believe I have already been here for 3 weeks! This place is so awesome and I can really feel God starting to work in ways I had never imagined. Perth is really starting to feel like home. This week has been all about repentance and forgiveness, and man has it been convicting. Our speaker, Caleb, really let us know how sin is defined and the ways to go about repenting. He taught us that we have the power to overcome sin and the enemy by repenting, which I think is so cool! One of the biggest things we talked about this week was the difference between our thoughts and what is actually sin. Caleb taught us about how satan will use our thoughts to try to trick us into sin, but we can stop these thoughts from becoming sin by simply recognizing that what is being thought of is satan and ask God to get rid of the thought. On friday of this week we had application day. That means that we sat in a room with our DTS the whole day and confessed every sin we have ever committed. At first this seemed SO daunting to me! But as the week progressed (as we defined sin) I could really feel God working in my heart and bringing up things from my past that I need to repent about and ask people for forgiveness (restitution). This was such a humbling experience and so freeing! It's so crazy to me that God would send His perfect Son to die for sinners. WHY? Because He loves us SOOO much! After this experience, I can't wait what else God has in store for me these next 9 months!
On a lighter note, things in Perth couldn't be going better! I had breky (breakfast) with Erika last Saturday and it was delicious! We had pancakes, eggs, yogurt, toast and tea and great conversation :) I love having Erika here with me, it's so comforting, like a little piece of home here!
Cool story: Erika and I were in Perth a couple days ago and we were walking back when we saw this lady outside a building. So we made eye contact and then decided to follow up the awkward stare with a "hello." To our surprise she was really friendly and started talking about her work. She works for the traffic control centre for the whole Western Australia, controlling traffic lights and everything like that. She was just outside for a smoke break and invited us to come see the tv screens and everything...SO AWESOME! I will put up pics later but it was just such an awesomely random surprise!
Other activities we have been up to this week have been rock climbing at an indoor place nearby place and we played volleyball at the beach another day!
Things couldn't be going better here and I hope the same is for you guys! Let me know if you would like me to pray for you, want to send me something :) or if you just wanna say hi!
